Support for the LGTBIAQ+ collective in the world of wine

On June 28, International LGTB+ Pride Day is celebrated, commemorating the
1969 riots in the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York, which served as a refuge for all the people belonging to the group.

The queer community responded to a police raid, something that was common since at that time acts of homosexuality were considered illegal throughout the country. For the first time the group decided to fight back and defend their rights. These events marked the beginning of the LGTB+ liberation movement.

From Koala we want to show our support for the group by giving visibility to the movements carried out in a sector as traditional as wine, which unfortunately are few.

Since 2017, the Spanish winery Paco & Lola Every year they launch a special edition in which they dye the recognized polka dots on their bottle with the colors of the rainbow flag. With this special edition they collaborate with associations and promote the naturalization and visibility of the LGTBIAQ+ collective in the wine sector.

On the other side of the pond, the Argentine winery Corbeau Wines launched an edition in 2021
limited edition of wines under the motto ''Wine is love''. With this proposal the winery seeks
accompany and make visible the fight for respect for rights and recognition of
equality. With the positive cycle association they created the “We are together” campaign, a
program aimed at LGTB+ adolescents and young people between 13 and 21 years old and their families.

We know perfectly well that one of the most traditional sectors is the world of
wine, a sector that has a lot of history. We believe that it is necessary to adapt and
commit to the present, we would like to see more actions and samples of
support from such a large sector to the LGTBIAQ+ group.
